The remarkable site that is Provincelands, the wild dune environment outside of the town of Provincetown, Cape Cod, has been for a long time a mecca for artists. The dunes are monumental and the vegetation full of color. This particular painting, which shows both the monumentality and the color, is of a mid-afternoon in August. You've got to have a hat, sun-block and a water-bottle to survive!
