Fort Hill is one of the most spectacular landscapes in Cape Cod.  At a considerable elevation, it surveys the Atlantic Ocean across the salt meadows of Orleans and looks north towards the National Seashore.  But this particular landscape painting turns its back on the water and gazes upon the magnificent wild meadow that greets visitors on their arrival from the road.  In October the poison ivy that is endemic to Cape Cod turns several tones of red, from a brilliant orangey vermilion to deep purple red.
