The Orion Nebula is one of the most fantastic images sent down to us by the Hubble space telescope. Formed of gases in twisted, sometimes animal, sometimes anthropomorphic shapes, these images are infinitely suggestive. In making this painting, I was less concerned with fidelity to the image; rather, I allowed the qualities of pigment and canvas to dictate their own rules.
