The Power Plant

I see the power plant, situated near the Schuylkill River in South Philadelphia, from my studio window.  To me, it is a demonic presence in the city, ambiguous symbol of power and pollution.  I wanted this urban landscape painting to embody the duality between the azure sky--symbol of purity--and the seething, smoky lower half of the painting.
